Adverbial clause of condition

Adverbial Clause of Condition: If, unless, provided, providing that ইত্যাদি দ্বারা শুরু হয়।

-If you come, I will go.

-You cannot pass unless you study hard.

Adverbial Clause of Condition (শর্ত নির্দেশক) হলো এমন এক ধরণের Subordinate Clause যা Principal Clause-এর কাজটি ঘটার জন্য একটি শর্ত (Condition) আরোপ করে। অর্থাৎ, মূল কাজটি ঘটবে কি ঘটবে না তা এই ক্লজের শর্তের ওপর নির্ভর করে। এটি মূলত ‘কী শর্তে’ প্রশ্নের উত্তর দেয়।

১. সাধারণ কানেক্টর বা সূচক শব্দসমূহ:

এই Clause-গুলো সাধারণত নিচের Subordinating Conjunction-গুলো দিয়ে শুরু হয়:

If (যদি)
Unless (যদি না / ইফ নট)
Provided that / Providing that (যদি / এই শর্তে যে)
In case (যদি এমন হয়)
Whether...or (কিনা / অথবা)

২. প্রধান কিছু নিয়ম ও উদাহরণ:

ক) If-এর ব্যবহার (Conditional Sentences):

শর্ত নির্দেশক বাক্যে 'If' সবচেয়ে বেশি ব্যবহৃত হয়। প্রতিযোগিতামূলক পরীক্ষার জন্য এর তিনটি গঠন খুবই গুরুত্বপূর্ণ:

First Conditional: If + Present Indefinite + Future Indefinite.
- উদাহরণ: If it rains, we will not go out.
Second Conditional: If + Past Indefinite + Subject + would/could/might + v1.
- উদাহরণ: If I were a bird, I would fly in the sky.
Third Conditional: If + Past Perfect + Subject + would have/could have + v3.
- উদাহরণ: If you had invited me, I would have attended the party.

খ) Unless-এর ব্যবহার:

Unless অর্থ হলো ‘যদি না’ (If not)। এর পরের অংশে আর ‘not’ বসানোর প্রয়োজন হয় না।

উদাহরণ: Unless you work hard, you will fail. (যদি তুমি কঠোর পরিশ্রম না করো, তবে তুমি ব্যর্থ হবে)।
ব্যাখ্যা: এখানে কঠোর পরিশ্রম না করা একটি শর্ত যা ব্যর্থতার কারণ হতে পারে।

গ) Provided that / In case-এর ব্যবহার:

এগুলো ‘যদি’ বা ‘এই শর্তে যে’ অর্থে ব্যবহৃত হয়।

উদাহরণ: I will help you provided that you tell the truth.
উদাহরণ: Take an umbrella in case it rains.

৩. চেনার সহজ উপায়:

এই ক্লজগুলো চেনার উপায় হলো বাক্যে একটি শর্তের উপস্থিতি দেখা। বাক্যটি যদি ‘যদি’ বা ‘যদি না’ দিয়ে শুরু হয় এবং কোনো ফলাফল নির্দেশ করে, তবে সেটিই Adverbial Clause of Condition।
